William J. "Bill" Lowe Sr., 88, of Linden, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born Sept. 24, 1929, in Avis, he was a son of the late Herbert and Thelma (Hines) Lowe.
Bill was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. Following his service in the military he was employed with Clasters Steel in Lock Haven and retired from the Plumbers and Pipefitters UA Local No. 520.
He was a member of the local VFW and attended monthly breakfasts with other VFW members and Union members. Bill lived a very active and hands on lifestyle. He enjoyed farming, welding, roofing, carpentry, woodworking, masonry, working on cars and making wine.
Surviving are two sons, David L. Lowe, of Fritch, Texas and Kenneth R. "Randy" Lowe (Debra), of Duboistown; a daughter, Pamela J. Lovejoy (Bill), of Fritch, Texas; nine grandchildren, Tina Marie Styles, William Lowe, Estella Ritter, Christopher Lowe, Billie Jo Burdette, David and Kenneth Lovejoy, and Justin and Jeremy Lowe; many great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren; his companion, Yvonee "Bonnie" Lowmiller, of Avis; and a sister.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, William J. Lowe Jr.; a grandson, Jayson Harstead; a granddaughter, Jennifer Spikes; one brother; and eight sisters.
A funeral service to honor the life of Bill will be held 7 p.m. Friday, January 12 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until time of service at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.
