William "Bill" Lynn Obituary

William C. "Bill" Lynn, 94, of Williamsport, entered the arms of his savior on Monday, January 8, 2024, surrounded by family at UPMC Williamsport. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Shirley M. (Hawkins) Lynn on September 30, 2008.

Born November 4, 1929, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Hugh and Thelma (Chubb) Lynn.

Bill graduated from Williamsport High School in 1947 and attended Dickinson Seminary. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and traveling out west with his wife, Shirley. He was a craftsman, building custom furniture for his family, checkering gun stocks and custom rocking chairs for each grandchild and great-grandchild.

He retired as director of quality at Textron-Lycoming after a 40-year career. While it is impossible to describe a life well lived and loved over 94 years, his compassion, wisdom, hospitality, and generosity was known to all. His perseverance through adversity, and "never giving up" spirit was an inspiration to his entire family.

Surviving are his children, William B. Lynn (Georgia) and Cathy A. Snyder of Williamsport; four grandchildren, Krista Snyder, Hilary Lynn, Nathan Lynn (Ashley), and Erica Cormier (Mark); eight great-grandchildren Colby, Emily, Zach, Josh, Elijah, Hartlyn, Chase, and Jaxson. He also leaves behind his companion, Phyllis Shevitski, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Lynn, and a son-in-law, Gregory Snyder.

Funeral services will be held privately with burial in Montoursville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project Donor Care Center, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8540.
