Wayne Lucas Obituary

Wayne Charles Lucas, 78, of Montoursville passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025. Born on June 3, 1946, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late John Charles and Nellie "Jane" (Seese) Lucas. Wayne's life was a testament to the values of hard work, dedication to family, and a love of the natural world.

Wayne was a graduate of Williamsport High School, class of 1964. He dedicated 45 years of his life to Your Building Center, where he became a respected figure known for his reliability and skill. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life; Wayne served in the PA National Guard for six years and was a member of the American Legion Post 104 in Montoursville. His love of the outdoors shone through his involvement with the Sure Shot Camp in Renovo and Skippers Lodge.

Wayne's adventurous spirit and kind heart will be remembered by all who knew him. He was a true outdoorsman, finding joy in hiking, hunting, fishing, cutting firewood and carpentry, a task he approached with the same precision and enthusiasm as all his endeavors.

Above all, Wayne cherished the time spent with his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and fond memories with his sons, Shane Lucas and his wife Joette of Montoursville, and Jeremy Soper of Linden; grandchildren, Tanner Lucas (Alyssa Chestnut) of Montoursville, Kasey Mahaffey (Logan) of Williamsport, Kailynn Burkholder (Nate Almasy) of Montoursville, Brianna Burkholder (Jacob Wilson) of Williamsport, Madison Larson (Nick DeSanto) of Cogan Station, and Dakota Patchen (Nicole Flook) of Williamsport. Wayne was also blessed with a great-grandchild, Jack Mahaffey, who brought him immense joy in his final years.

Wayne's sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Grimes (Eric Orwig) of Williamsport, Edie Long (Miles) of Montoursville, and Carol Stone (John) of Cogan Station, will miss their brother's adventurous stories and warm presence. He was a beloved cousin and uncle to many nieces, and nephews, who will carry his memory forward. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Robert "Bob" Grimes, whom he held in high regard.

Wayne's life was one of purpose and passion, characterized by his adventurous spirit and kind nature. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched with his generosity and in the beauty of the forests and streams he so loved. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
