The Rev. J. Marco Hunsberger

January 10, 1942 ~ February 17, 2016 (age 74) 74 Years Old

     The Rev. J. Marco Hunsberger, 74, of Williamsport, died Feb. 17, 2016, at his home. Surviving is his wife, Beverly A. (Smith) Hunsberger, with whom they would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this August.

     Born Jan. 10, 1942, in Reading, he was a son of the late Rev. Jacob Marco and Naomi Ellen (Zuber) Hunsberger.

      Marco was a graduate of Mercer University in Macon, Ga., and received his master’s degree from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. He was an Ordained United Methodist minister serving the Halifax United Methodist Church for 19 years and Campus Minister and Director of Community Service at Lycoming College for 18 years. While at the college he was awarded the Sister Vincent Humanitarian Award and the Dale V. Bower Service Award.

     He was an avid golfer, baseball fan and loved the Philadelphia Phillies attending almost every spring training. He also enjoyed family vacations to Hilton Head, S.C. Most of all Marco loved and cherished his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

     Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons, Marc B. (Vanessa), of Hershey, Jeremy T., Jeffrey S., and Brian C. (Chris) Hunsberger, all of Williamsport; eight grandchildren, Valarie, Justice, Lindsey, Marc Jr., Connor, Katelyn, Chelsi and Ryan; two great-grandsons, Spencer and Gavin; his mother-in-law, Mary Margaret Smith, of Dayton, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Phil K. Smith (Sue), of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; and three sisters-in-law, Barbara L. Smith, of Dayton, Ohio, Belinda R. Napier (Norm) of Kansas City, Kan., and M. Beth Cheadle, of Dayton, Ohio.

     In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant grandson, Jeffrey David Hunsberger.

     In keeping with Marco’s wishes services will be held private at the convenience of the family.

     In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Marco’s name to Susquehanna Health Foundation c/o Susquehanna Home Care and Hospice, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701 or Lycoming College c/o Office of Advancement, 700 College Place, Williamsport, PA 17701.
