Sophie P. Kelley, 95, of Williamsport, died Monday, March 09, 2020 at AristaCare at Loyalsock. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, James D. Kelley.
Born May 22, 1924, in Niagara Falls, NY where she was raised. She was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Agnes (Gaj) Sczesniak.
Sophie was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish. She worked as a seamstress at Sharwell Manufacturing as well as Lisa Rae Fashions. Her sense of humor and feisty personality will be missed by many.
Surviving are a son Edward F. Kelley (Pat), of Montoursville, a daughter Rita K. Strickler (David), of Williamsport, and four grandchildren, Meghan Rivera (Joe), Matthew Kelley, Allison Capristo (Ralph), and Andrew Strickler. She was also blessed to have two great-grandchildren Wyatt Eister and Wiley Rivera.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Stephen, John, and Lawrence Sczesniak, and a sister Helen Lee.
A Mass of Christian Burial to honor the life of Sophie will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14 at St Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 West Edwin Street, Williamsport with the Rev. Brian F. Vanfossen officiating. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. in the church portico on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Sophie’s name to St. Joseph the Worker Parish 711 West Edwin Street Williamsport, PA 17701.
