Born May 5, 1941, in Punxsutawney, he was a son of the late Elmer and Frances A. (Sprankle) Davis.
Roger was a lifelong learner, beginning his academic journey at Franklin Senior High School. He then furthered his education at Clarion University, where he received a bachelor's degree in Education. His passion for learning led him to Bucknell University, where he earned a master's degree in Mathematics. He served as a statistics professor at Pennsylvania College of Technology and Lycoming College, where he impacted countless lives through his teachings. His love for statistics was so profound that he authored a well-received math book, further contributing to the field.
Roger attended Lycoming Centre Presbyterian Church. He was an early adopter of technology, teaching himself how to use computers when they first emerged. His love for nature was evident in his hobbies, which included tying flies, raising flowers in his greenhouse, and woodworking. He crafted beautiful kayaks, canoes, and sailboats, which led to his passion for sailing. Roger was also an avid camper and traveler, always seeking new adventures. However, the joy of his life was spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Roger Wayne Davis (Jolynn) of Trout Run, Morris G. Davis (Melissa) of Hughesville, Joann Collister (Jason) of Blossburg, and Rebecca A.
