Robert D. "Bob" Columbine, 89, of Jersey Shore, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta A. (Eberhart) Columbine in 2010.
Born November 9, 1934, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late James F. and Mable (Irwin) Columbine.
Bob served his country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from CA Reed after 39 years. Following retirement, he worked as an orderly at Divine Providence Hospital for five years.
Bob was a longtime member of Larryville United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post #104, Montoursville. He loved sports, was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, played high school football for Williamsport, and was on the winning team of the first Little League World Series in 1947. Bob was the sweetest, kindest, most gentle soft-spoken man, who read his Bible daily, and never wanted to trouble anyone for anything.
Surviving are two daughters Melanie A. Scaife (Theodore) of Williamsport and Kristine M. "Kris" Michael of Montoursville; three grandchildren Tara Gottschall, Brian Gottschall (Matt McCarrier), and Kaitlyn Michael-Berkheimer (Logan); a great-grandson Brian Michael-Berkheimer; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son Matthew Columbine; two brothers George Columbine and Charles "Kelly" Columbine; and a son-in-law, Brian Michael.
A funeral service to honor the life of Bob will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 9 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home 1914 Memorial Avenue, Williamsport. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.
