    Richard A. "Dick" Strayer, 96, of Montoursville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 11, 2022 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena M. (Minnella) Strayer on March 1, 2019.
    Born Sept. 14, 1925, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Walter C. and Helen (Hummer) Strayer.
    Dick was a graduate of the Williamsport High School. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was briefly employed at Rishel’s Furniture Company and retired from Bethlehem Steel. Following retirement, he worked parttime at Sears.
   Dick was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Montoursville where he enjoyed calling bingo. He also enjoyed bowling and was recognized by the Hall of Fame as the Oldest Bowler at the age of 92. In his free time, Dick visited nursing homes and read to the residents and made rosaries.
Surviving are two daughters Carmella L. Plage of Linden and Christine J. DeGarmo (Walter) of South Williamsport; 19 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
    In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters Maria Ferguson and Anne Secreti; and siblings Edith, Maxine, Paul and Walter Jr., and Donald Strayer.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Tuesday July 19 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 800 Mulberry Street, Montoursville with the Rev. Michael S. McCormick officiating. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, July 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Knight-Confer Funeral Home 1914 Memorial Avenue, Williamsport.
   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dick’s name to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 800 Mulberry Street, Montoursville PA 17754.
