Phyllis Ringler Strasburg, 95, of Muncy, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at her home.
Born November 29, 1928, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Albert C. and Mary E. (Snyder) Shumbat.
A graduate of the Williamsport Area High School, class of 1946, Phyllis dedicated her life to the art of homemaking, creating a warm and welcoming home for all who entered.
Phyllis was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Muncy and had previously attended the Trinity United Methodist Church. Throughout her life, she was actively involved in various church committees.
In addition to her church activities, Phyllis was a member of the former Women's Club. Her hands were rarely still, as she found joy in crocheting and knitting, creating beautiful pieces that were both a comfort and a treasure to those who received them.
Above all, Phyllis' love for her family was boundless. She is survived by two granddaughters, Dena J. Wilton (John) of Muncy and Roxanne J. Garman of South Williamsport; a grandson Rocky J. Stugart, Jr. (Teri) of Hughesville; eight great-grandchildren, John III, Russell, and Marlayana Wilton, Benjamin, Nicholas, and Rebecca Garman, and Jaden and Alan Stugart; and a great-great-grandchild, Thaddeus Wilton. Phyllis also leaves behind three daughters by choice, Judith E. Gohl (Richard), Patricia L. Dudek (Gregory Wittle), and Jessica L. Scuibba, as well as seven grandchildren by choice, all of whom she loved as her own.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Dean R. Ringler; her second husband, Richard N. Strasburg, who passed away on February 9, 2017; her daughter, Linda G. Stugart, an infant brother, Albert C. Shumbat, Jr. and a brother, Ernest H. Shumbat.
A funeral service to honor the life of Phyllis will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 2 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home 1914 Memorial Avenue, Williamsport. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Phyllis’ name to a charity of donor’s choice.
