Patricia L. Renn, 88, of Williamsport, Pa., passed away on Friday, October 18th, 2024, at Heritage Springs Memory Care in Muncy, Pa.
Born December 23rd, 1935, in Sunbury, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank H. Jr. and Bertha E. Knorr Blough.
Patricia enjoyed a long and fulfilling life. She was an active member of St. Paul-Calvary United Methodist Church, choosing to fill her time by serving others. Doing so was an important way for her to live out her faith. She felt very strongly about the importance of making a difference in people’s lives by volunteering. Towards this end, she was a driver for Meals on Wheels for many years. She also helped to lead a Sunday School class, sang in her Chancel Choir, and helped found a weekly social/prayer group lightheartedly named "The Praying Grandmas". She participated in a church-sponsored book group, and helped with Family Promise, another church-based organization whose mission is to help temporarily house and feed (primarily) women and children who are victims of abuse and/or extreme financial hardship. Continuing her work for others, she donated her time each summer to her church’s Vacation Bible School, and its summer program providing free breakfasts to children of financially burdened parents. She visited shut-ins on behalf of her church and was often a lay reader in Sunday services.
Patricia was an avid gardener and loved the beauty of flowers. Her favorite varieties were yellow tulips and yellow daffodils, and she was rarely without a fresh vase of flowers on the coffee table in her living room. She had a very sunny, optimistic personality and loved to laugh. Patricia adored her family and always kept in touch with each of them. She enjoyed international travel with her husband George, and felt blessed to have had so many travel experiences together. Hers was a life well-lived. She truly was a humble servant to her God.
Surviving are her children, Judith A. Ritchings (William J) of Philadelphia, Pa. and Eagles Mere, Pa.; Rebecca S. Zavacky (Joseph E) of Alpharetta, Ga.; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband George E. Renn, her son, Michael G. Renn, and her brother, Barry L. Blough.
A memorial service to honor the life of Patricia will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13 at St. Paul-Calvary United Methodist Church, 1427 Memorial Ave. Williamsport with her pastor, Ann Runnels, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Dementia Society of America, at www.DementiaSociety.org/donate.
