O. Jeannine H. (Hunter) Bertolet

O. Jeannine H. Bertolet, 87, formerly of Marion Station, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Valley View Rehab and Nursing Center, Montoursville. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Vincent Garverick in 1986 and her second husband of 29 years, Maynard F. Bertolet in 2017.

Born April 28, 1932 in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late LaRue and Erma (Rockenbrod) Hunter.

Jeannine was a 1950 graduate of Williamsport High School. She began work at GRIT Publishing, several departments of the Williamsport Hospital, and later was the activity director at New Horizons Senior Center in Narberth. Jeannine could often be found doing art, crossword puzzles, crafting, or spending time with her family.  She loved to take tours and travel but also enjoyed hosting and entertaining in her home. Jeannine was a PEER mentor at Valley View and a member of St. John’s-Newberry United Methodist Church and Bible Baptist Church of Upper Darby.

Surviving are her children; Mark Garverick of Tunkhannock, Lynn Schultz (Jim) of Williamsville, MO, and Dawn R. Counsil of Williamsport, step-sons; Maynard F. Bertolet, II of Mechanicsburg and Benjamin Bertolet of Harrisburg, twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands and parents, Jeannine was preceded in death by a step-daughter; Barbara Baranowski, two brothers and two sisters.

A memorial service to honor the life of Jeannine will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 13 at St. John’s-Newberry United Methodist Church, 2101 Newberry St., Williamsport. A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at St. John’s – Newberry United Methodist Church.

Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Wildwood Cemetery.
