Louise Mary "Weez" Wurster,82, of Williamsport, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024 at UPMC Williamsport.
Born December 7, 1941, in Manhattan, NY, she was a daughter of the late William and Louise (Scionti) Elek.
Weez attended a Catholic school in New York. She built a fulfilling career, initially working at Divine Providence Hospital for over 25 years where she later retired as a transport supervisor, and also while working at Kmart. After retirement she continued working at Hope Enterprises as a supervisor.
Weez was a gifted seamstress, she lovingly crafted prom and wedding gowns for her family, turning each occasion into a cherished memory. Her culinary skills were equally renowned, especially her famous meatballs, which became a staple at family gatherings, and detailed cakes she made for family milestones. Weez's passion for cooking was evident as she enjoyed watching "David in the Kitchen" and "Mary in the Kitchen" cooking shows, and she never missed an episode of "Wheel of Fortune."
Perhaps most remarkable was Weez's ability to keep her family close-knit. Sunday mornings were a special time, as the family would come together for "coffee talk," a tradition that exemplified the importance she placed on family bonds. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love, where everyone was welcome.
Surviving are her six children Dwayne T. Wurster of Loyalsock, Susan L. Ring (John) of Muncy, Robin A. Khoury (David) of Virginia, Kimberly A. Rank (Kevin) of Cogan Station, Melissa L. Fisher (Charles) of Williamsport, and Jason W. Wurster (Jayme) of Slippery Rock; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; her best friend of over 60 years, Barbara Silverstein; and her cherished friends of over 50 years, Janice Ranck and Joan Vanderhoof.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Larry R. Wurster (Debra) and her brother and sister-in-law, William and Maureen Elek.
A memorial service to honor the life of Weez will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home 1914 Memorial Avenue, Williamsport. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.
