Louis Yerger, III Obituary

Louis M. "Lou" Yerger III, of Linden, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after a courageous 14 year battle with cancer.

Born July 30, 1956, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Louis M. Yerger Jr. and Alice Louise (Keller) Yerger.

Lou was a 1975 graduate of Williamsport Area High School. He furthered his education at Rochester University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering. His career was as diverse as his interests; he was the owner and operator of Carpenter Bees be Gone, where he skillfully made bee traps. Before that, he retired from Data Card as a computer repairman and had also worked for the Department of Transportation and Hope Enterprises.

Beyond his professional life, Lou was a man of many hobbies and a lover of the outdoors. He was a respected Radio Ham Operator with a class 2 license and had a passion for remote control airplanes. His adventurous spirit was also evident in his love for hunting, fishing, and flying drones. Always one to enjoy a challenge, Lou dedicated time to rebuilding a Cub Cadet lawn mower and raising game birds, such as pheasant and quail.

Surviving is his loving daughter, Molly J. Durland (Tanner Wertman) of Muncy, his significant other of over ten years, Ruth Taylor of Linden; two grandchildren, Taylor Rae Durland and Blake Oliver Durland; and a sister, Lynda L. Yerger of Williamsport.

A viewing to honor the life of Lou will be held from 11 a.m. -12 p.m. on Monday, October 7 at Knight- Confer Funeral Home 1914 Memorial Avenue, Williamsport. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery.
