Kathryn Deckard Knight, 76, of Laporte, PA, passed away on Friday February 9, 2024, at the Highland Center in Laporte.
Born January 26, 1948, at Williamsport Hospital, Kathryn was the daughter of the late Bruce and Alice Bubb-Deckard.
Kathryn graduated from Milton High School in 1965 and attended Strayer College in Washington DC.
Lake Makoma and its community were the foundation of Kathryn’s life. It is where she enjoyed the summers of her youth, met her husband of 55 years, instilled values on her children, and was the only place she ever wanted to call home.
An adventurer at heart, Kathryn lived and worked in Frankfort Germany, skied in the alps, rafted the Colorado river, and traveled from the Arctic Circle to the Amazon River. She was an avid bridge player and loved to read. She was a member of the Laporte United Methodist Church, the Williamsport Woman’s Club, Laporte Women’s Club, and the Junior League of Williamsport, where she volunteered for the YWCA’s program for battered women.
In addition to her husband Charles, Kathryn is survived by her daughter Pamala Kleinle (Scott), her son Eric, and grandchildren Leah and Ian Kleinle. She is also survived by her siblings: Diane Lalli, John Deckard, and David Deckard.
A celebration of Kathryn's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Laporte United Methodist Church 723 Main St. Laporte, followed by burial in Mountain Ash Cemetery Laporte.
Memorial contributions in Kathryn’s name may be made to the Lycoming County S.P.C.A. 2805 Reach Road Williamsport, PA 17701.
