Julia Grove Obituary

Julia Ann Grove, age 93 of Mishawaka, passed away at the Holy Cross Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Friday, July 5, 2024.  Julia was born March 29, 1931, in Montoursville, Pennsylvania, to the late Martin and Jennie (Conrad) Kehrer.  She was a graduate of Montoursville High School, class of 1949.  On May 3, 1953, she married Kenneth Grove and in 1981, they relocated from Pennsylvania to Orlando, Florida. Kenneth preceded her in death on November 26, 2010, and in 2013, she moved to Mishawaka to be closer to her sons.

She is survived by her sons Wayne Grove of South Williamsport, Pennsylvania and Tracy (Donna) Grove of Mishawaka, Indiana, along with five grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.  Her sister, Marjorie Snyders of Montoursville, Pennsylvania survives as well.  Julia was preceded in death by her siblings Ora Jean Gasser, Helen Kitchen, and Charles Kehrer, as well as her brother-in-law, Charles Snyder.

Services for Julia will be held at a later time.  She will be laid to rest beside her husband Kenneth in Wildwood Cemetery of Williamsport, Pennsylvania.  Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care of Mishawaka, Indiana has been entrusted with her care.

Julia was a devoted member of the Forest Lake Seventh Day Adventist Church in Apopka, Florida, and the South Bend Seventh Day Adventist Church in South Bend, Indiana. Her dedication to her faith and her church was evident in everything she did, especially through her beautiful piano playing and singing, which touched the hearts of all who heard her. She was employed by Cobbler’s Shoes and Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Williamsport and as an office administrator and bookkeeper for the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Florida.

In her spare time, Julia had a special talent for crafts, and she loved creating all kinds of wonderful things with her hands. She was also an avid reader, with a love for books that enriched her life and broadened her horizons. Her love and kindness extended to her beloved cats, whom she adored and spoiled endlessly.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, July 26th at 11:00 am at Knight Confer Funeral Home in Williamsport, PA with internment to follow at Wildwood Cemetery.
