Joyce M. Fairfax, 68, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Edenbrook South Nursing Home.
Born April 18, 1956, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of Helen (Anderson) Hudson of Williamsport and the late Donald Hudson.
Joyce's early years were spent in the town of her birth, where she graduated from Williamsport Area High School in 1974. Her passion for helping others led her to pursue higher education in the area of Nursing at Williamsport Area Community College where she earned her LPN. Some years later she attended Penn State University, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and became an RN. Joyce's caring nature found its perfect outlet in her profession as a registered nurse, a role in which she touched countless lives with her warmth and gentle care.
Joyce was a woman of faith and fellowship and was involved in the Diamond Street Christian Church where she participated in the women’s ministry, Diamonds in the Rough. Joyce's interests extended beyond the church walls. She was a vibrant member of the Hat Ladies of Lycoming County, a social club that was involved in fundraisers and community outreach. She volunteered for Yokefellowship Prison Ministry at the Clinton County Correctional Facility, and she participated in several years of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), an international bible study.
She is survived by her loving son, Shane Fairfax, and her cherished granddaughter, Abrielle Fairfax, both of Williamsport. Joyce also leaves behind a brother, Mark Hudson (Loren) of Woodbridge, VA, two sisters, Jean Jackson of Rome, NY and Danesta Whaley of Williamsport, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and friends who will miss her deeply. She was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Rob Jackson and Clay Whaley.
The family would like to extend their great appreciation for the dedicated care given Joyce at Edenbrook South Nursing Home by their medical staff and from the UPMC Hospice Team.
A graveside service to honor the life of Joyce will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 2 in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy, PA.
