John A. Emery

John A. Emery, 81, of Williamsport, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at UPMC Williamsport.

Born February 18, 1943, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Daniel P. and Maxine M. (Farley) Emery.

John was a 1966 graduate of South Williamsport Area High School and continued his education at the former Williamsport Area Community College.

John served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Independence CVS -62, a carrier vessel. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Unit Commendation Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. After his service he was employed for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and retired after 27 years.

John was an avid Penn State football fan and was a season ticket holder for many years.

Surviving are his cousins Nancy K. Hart (Joel), Joanne F. Matter, Carolyn E. Herman (Bob), and a cousin-in-law Winnie K. Emery.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two cousins Ron and William Emery.

A graveside service to honor the life of John will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 14 in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
