Jean R. Crain, 86, of Williamsport, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the Williamsport Home.
Born on January 19, 1940, Jean was the beloved daughter of the late L. Earnest Derr and Allene (Rose) Derr and the dedicated wife to the late David C. Crain, Sr., who preceded her in death in 2013.
Jean left behind a legacy of love and commitment through her family. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Donna J. Fitz (Charles), and son, David C. Crain, Jr. (Nina). She was a proud “Nona” to six grandchildren: Chad (Katie), Daniel, and Joshua Fitz, Paige Ann, David III, and Andrew Crain, and she was blessed to be a great-grandmother to Blair Fitz. Jean was preceded in death by her grandson, Christian David Fitz, and her siblings, Edna Salayda, Elsie Derr, Sarah Jane Hetzel, Bernice Herriman, L. Earnest Derr, and Margaret Aunkst.
Jean was a graduate of Williamsport Area High School, Class of 1958. Her working years included time as a trusted assistant for Dr. Yasui, a role that she greatly enjoyed. However, Jean's main life work was as a meticulous homemaker, raising her family and providing a warm and loving home. Known for her exceptional skills as a seamstress and her artful talent in cake decorating, Jean's creative touch was evident in her many crafts and family celebrations. Jean found serenity in her cottage getaways to Central Oak Heights, and she relished the joys of wintering in Florida with her husband after his retirement. Faith played a significant role in Jean's journey, having been a previous member of Trinity United Methodist Church and, more recently, attending Buchanan Baptist.
Funeral services to honor Jean’s life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport, with burial to follow at Montoursville Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s honor to the American Rescue Workers, 643 Elmira St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
