Janet I. (Jacobs) Barone

     Janet I. Barone, 76, of Manheim, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Barone.

     Born April 11, 1947, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Carl M. and Sara E. (Windamaker) Jacobs.

     Janet was a Williamsport High School graduate, class of 1966. She worked for and retired from Bailey Control/Primus after 30 years. She was a woman who lived her life to the fullest. Janet will always be remembered for her giant smile, her signature laugh & all the love and hugs one could ask for.

     She always loved to dance, it didn’t matter if it was jitterbugging to 50’s tunes off the radio or a slow dance in the kitchen with her husband, she loved it all. The love she had for her two daughters was beyond measure and that love extended to her grandchildren and anyone who joined the family. Aside from her family, she enjoyed making crafts, camping, traveling and visiting with family and friends.

     Most of all, she loved being a grandmother, she took great pride in her role as "Grammy." She recently learned she was going to be a great grandmother and was so thrilled and could not wait to welcome and hold another baby in the family.

     Surviving are her two daughters, Andrea Sones, of Williamsport, Nicole Thompson (Richard), of Hughesville; grandson, Tristan Ritter (Ariana); granddaughter, Olivia Sones; step-granddaughter, Destiny Dauberman; a brother, Nelson Jacobs, of Myerstown; and three sisters, Joyce Rathmell (Gary), of Cogan Station, Joann McMullen (T.G.), of Laport, and Judy Myers (Ted), of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.

     In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Jacobs; a nephew, Gary Jacobs; and nieces, Gail Jacobs and Cindi Heckerman.

     In keeping with her wishes, there will be a celebration of life in the spring of 2024, to be announced at a later time by the family.
