Janel A. Boden

     Janel A. Boden, 50, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 4, 2023 at UPMC Williamsport after a courageous battle with Cholangiocarcinoma.

     Born on December 7, 1972, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of James R. and Bonnie C. (Decker) Boden, of Cogan Station.

     A graduate of the Williamsport Area High School in 1990, Janel furthered her education at Pennsylvania College of Technology, Lock Haven University, and Mansfield University, where she earned a degree in business. Yet, her true love was photography, a passion that led her to establish Janel Boden Photography, through which she captured the beauty of life and the world around her. Additionally, Janel served her community as an Uber and Lyft driver. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Greater Williamsport Area Rideshare Driver's Association.

     Janel's interests extended beyond her professional endeavors. She was an active participant in several axe throwing leagues, displaying both her competitive spirit and her commitment to enjoying life to the fullest. A collector at heart, Janel amassed an impressive collection of designer purses, a testament to her taste for quality and style. Her friends affectionately note that she was also a "collector of people and things" - a reflection of her love for building meaningful relationships and cherishing the simple pleasures in life. In college, her leadership and business acumen were recognized when she became a member of a business fraternity Phi Beta Lambda.

     Surviving in addition to her parents are a sister Jacquie L. Weaver of Williamsport; a nephew, Brian Weaver; and two nieces, Sarah and Natalie Weaver. Her close friends and chosen family Gail Miller, Matt Bittenbender, Heather Zimmerman, and Chris Tsai, along with countless others, will remember her fondly and miss her deeply.

     A celebration of Janel’s life will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the Hepburn Township Volunteer Fire Company social hall, 615 PA 973, Cogan Station, PA, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A remembrance service will begin at 2:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served.
