James L. Dershem, Jr.

James L. Dershem, Jr. 86, formerly of Williamsport passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Williamsport North.

Born January 16, 1938 in Williamsport he was a son of the late James L., Sr. and Ethel (Newcomer) Dershem.

James was a 1955 graduate of Williamsport High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and Reserves. Jim worked as a Diesel mechanic for Susquehanna Trailways, formerly Edwards Lakes to Sea, for over 20 years.

His passion for life was evident in his hobbies. James could often be found cheering on the Miami Dolphins, reveling in the thrill of NASCAR, and indulging in his love for chocolate, a sweet testament to his joyful spirit. Above all, James adored his grandchildren, whose visits would light up his eyes with unmatchable joy. His legacy of love, kindness, and humor will live on through the memories cherished by all who were fortunate to know him.

Surviving is his loving wife of 64 years, Connie L. (Seddon) Dershem; four children, Corey M. Dershem (Jen) of Williamsport, Thomas D. Dershem of Connersville, IN, James L. Dershem, III (Deanne) of Palm Bay, FL, and Joseph A. Dershem of Linden; 8 grandchildren, Thomas, Tori, Rachel, Caleb, Rebekah, Micah, Lyndsy, and Jakob; and 7 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Raymond, Robert, Harriett, Mary and Sarah.

A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Montoursville Cemetery.
