James L. Bailey, Sr.

James L. Bailey, Sr., 88, of Williamsport passed away on April 26, 2024 at UPMC Williamsport. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Loretta A. Bailey.

Born on November 18, 1935 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Harry "Mike" and Grace (Houser) Bailey.

James retired from Schnadig Furniture after more than 40 years of service. He was an avid hunter and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He could often be found at his river lot, enjoying the view of the Susquehanna River and mowing the grass on his tractor. James was an active member of Duboistown Church where volunteered in the kitchen for many of the church dinners. He was also a member of Duboistown VFW Post 7863, Moose Lodge 145, South Williamsport and the Polish Club.

Surviving are his children, James L. Bailey, Jr. (Stacey) of Mill Hall, Kathy L. Ardabell (Carl) of Williamsport and Lori A. Camp of South Williamsport; five grandchildren, Keri, Bradley, Jamie, Emily, and Cole; and a great-granddaughter, Paisley.

In addition to his wife, James was preceded in death by his daughter, Kim M. Bailey and three sisters, Emma Caputo, Ethel Fike and Mary Lou Jenks.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 2nd  at Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.

Memorial contributions may be made in James' name to Duboistown Church, 133 Summer Street, South Williamsport, PA 17702.
