Helen M. (Prendergast) Smith

Helen M. Smith,94, of Williamsport died Monday, April 15, 2024 at Williamsport South Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Frank L. Smith on August 3, 2012.

Born July 11, 1929, in Trenton, NJ she was a daughter of the late Michael J. and Mary Jane (Winter) Prendergast.

Helen was a 1948 graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School. Helen worked at the former Mr. Donut and Heller’s Market. She was a member of the former Ascension Catholic Church and the Newberry Lioness. She loved reading, knitting, gambling at casinos, and playing Bingo.

Surviving is her children Christopher W. Smith (Ann) and Ann M. Ferris, both of Williamsport; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Jane M. Bouse; and a daughter-in-law Sue Filmeck.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son Michael F. Smith; a great-great-granddaughter, Kynlee; and a brother, Michael Prendergast.

Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Wildwood Cemetery.
