Grant James “Jimmy” Koch, Jr.,67, of Williamsport died Friday, November 1, 2024, at his home.
Born January 15, 1957, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Grant J. Koch, Sr. and Iva V. (Grimes) Koch.
Jimmy attended the Williamsport Area School District and furthered his education at the Pennsylvania College of Technology, where he studied for a year to become an auto mechanic. His passion for mechanics and dedication to service led him to serve in the U.S. Navy, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of pride and patriotism. After his service, Jimmy took to the roads as a truck driver for several years before embracing the entrepreneurial spirit and becoming self-employed.
Those who knew Jimmy will remember him as a friendly and loving man who could light up a room with his presence. His artistic talent was a gift he shared with many, creating beautiful pictures, especially of wolves, which showcased his deep appreciation for nature and wildlife. Jimmy's love for movies and TV shows was well known, and he could often be found recounting his favorite scenes and characters with an infectious enthusiasm.
Surviving is his four children Xavier J. Koch (Tracey) of Montgomery, Adrienne S. Banzhaf (John) of Trout Run, Jason A. Koch (Samantha) of Jersey Shore, and Amanda S. Koch (Marc Geiss) of Woolrich; nine cherished grandchildren: Aramis, Jonas, Xavier Jr., Ahnalya, Kiefer, Lennox, Kemper, Drake, and Coraline; six siblings Wayne A. Koch (Yvonne) of Williamsport, Steven L. Koch (Beverly) of Scranton, Keith M. Koch (Jeanne) of Williamsport, Lori A. Berninger of Williamsport, Kevin M. Koch of Williamsport, and Wade E. Tilburg (Patricia) of Cogan Station; his ex-wife, Sandra G. Miller of Williamsport; and his beloved dog, Gizmo.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Gerald L. “Jerry” Koch and Craig A. Koch.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
