Glenda J. Taylor, 67, of Nisbet, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024, at UPMC Williamsport. Born September 15, 1956, in Williamsport, the daughter of the late Fred and Doris (Henne) Laylon. She was surrounded by her family, as she had been throughout her life. Her family and friends were everything to her; she loved them fiercely and unapologetically.
Glenda lived life on her terms. She owned and operated a successful business, Glenda’s Lawn Care. She rode a motorcycle before she drove a car. And horses? Their hearts would beat as one when she rode. She taught horseback riding and was a world-class barrel racer. She was an excellent cook, a gardener, and a homemaker. Canned peppers, chocolate cake with peanut butter icing, baked beans. Glenda was always spending time with her family. If you want to find Glenda, find a sporting event where her grandchildren played. She loved her sisters and brothers. She loved her son. She loved her friends. Glenda was fortunate to have a life partner, Ken, whom she loved very much, and he cared for her like no other – in sickness and health. Yep, she found a good one. She loved her horse, Mea, and her cats and adored her chocolate lab, Rosco.
Her laugh was infectious, loud, and from the gut. Her heart was better than big, and her welcome was wide open. Cancer didn’t beat her. She didn’t lose her fight. God didn’t take her. She was simply ready to go, and God’s hand was extended. A change of clothes, a new venue and now she’s everywhere and anywhere we need her to be.
She is survived by her son, Clinton Taylor of Williamsport; siblings Jeff Laylon (Ron), Charles Laylon (Patty), Roxanne Chapman (Hank), and Tammy Engle (Scott); grandchildren C.J. and Italia Taylor and Austin McCandless; and her life partner, Ken Hafer.
Per Glenda’s wishes, her departure will be a private affair shared with her family. But wherever you are, feel free to raise a glass and send her off with a smile. Glenda would have wanted it that way. In the end, we are all just walking each other home.
