Eugene “Gene” Laylon, of Williamsport, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2026, surrounded by family and after a courageous battle with cancer.
Gene was born June 11, 1955, to the late Glen and Mildred (Sandell) Laylon. He was a 1973 graduate of Loyalsock High School and proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Sergeant from 1976 to 1982, receiving an honorable discharge. He was last employed with Keystone Electric, where he worked until his retirement in 2022.
Gene was married to the former Jacqueline Hoffa, who survives.
Gene loved everything outdoors, especially hunting, fishing on the lakes, and working in his garden. He was always in the garage fixing or building something and seemed able to repair or create just about anything including building his home. Above all, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren and cheering for Penn State football.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Jackie, are his mother- and father-in-law, Walter and Evelyn Bailey of Kulpmont; a step-son, Gary Hoffa and his wife Stacy of Lewisburg; a step-daughter, Krystal Greenwalt and her husband Mike of Bloomsburg; grandchildren Mya Hoffa of Danville, and Gavin and Jaxson Greenwalt of Bloomsburg; a brother, Glen Laylon and his wife Barbara of Pennsdale; and a sister, Raymonde Brown of McVeytown. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Donald Laylon.
In accordance with Gene’s wishes, no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD, 21741, and/or the Susquehanna Health Foundation, c/o Home Care and Hospice, 1001 Grampian Boulevard, Williamsport, PA 17701.
