Elaine F. Davenport, 85, of Duboistown, passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, at The Williamsport Home with close family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, David E. "Pappy" Davenport Sr. on March 9, 2016.
Born Dec. 4, 1938, in New Haven, Conn., she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Ann Muerrle.
Elaine was known to many as Mimi, Gram, Grammy, Mame D, Ms. Molley and even Wilson. Elaine enjoyed a career in Human Resources working for Giant and then Walmart, until she retired. Elaine always started her mornings with a cup of hot tea with honey and loved to garden, caring for her roses. She loved to watch her grandchildren play in the pool while she baked cookies and her famous mac and cheese. Elaine loved being a part of the Grotto family, helping with events or hanging out with everyone while sipping on a glass of wine.
Many of the local children knew Elaine and Dave as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. They married on Sept. 23, 1957, "Be Clause" they loved, surviving are her four children, Tammy M. Floyd (Tom) of South Williamsport, Joseph W. Davenport of Duboistown, David E. Davenport Jr. of North Carolina, Susan T. Davenport/Fils-Aime (Alix) of Duboistown and daughter-in-law, Rose Davenport of Maryland; 19 grandchildren, Beth, TJ, Katie, Mikael, Rachel, Jason, Erika, Leah, Dalton, Becky, Krista, Josh, Julia, David, Tobie, Sarah, Suzanne, Cody and Ashley, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her husband and parents, Elaine was preceded in death by a son, Shawn P. Davenport; and a granddaughter, Avery Miller.
A celebration of Elaine’s life will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Zafar Grotto Rafaz Club 381 E 2nd Ave, South Williamsport, PA 17702. Friends and family are all invited to come celebrate the life Elaine lived. The family requests casual attire.
The burial will be held 10:30 a.m. on their anniversary, Monday, Sept. 23, at the Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. It is only fitting we are reuniting Elaine and Dave again on their "66th" anniversary to spend an eternity together!
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elaine’s memory to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or the Lycoming County SPCA 2805 Reach Rd, Williamsport, PA 17701.
