Dorothea Ann Lehman, 72, of Jersey Shore, loving wife, mom and grandmother, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at UPMC of Williamsport.
Born on April 10, 1953, in Jersey Shore, Dorothea was a lifelong resident of the area, and only child to the late Anson Brown Fisher and H. Janice (Hiney) Fisher.
Dorothea graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1971, and began working at Jersey Shore State Bank. She also worked for a short period of time at UPMC Williamsport as a switchboard operator.
Dorothea was passionate for farming and it was evident in the care she gave to bailing hay, feeding cattle, and tending to her garden. She had amazing sewing skills and crafted T-shirts, Halloween costumes, and stuffed animals, most notably teddy bears, that were cherished by all who received them. Her love for arts and crafts, especially woodworking, showcased her creative spirit and her ability to turn the ordinary into something extraordinary. Holidays were a special time for Dorothea, as she reveled in the joy of bringing her family together.
Above everything, home was where Dorothea’s heart was and she cherished her role as a homemaker with immense joy. Her loving husband, Michael "Mike" Lehman, stood by her side for 40 years, and she was also blessed with the inseparable love of her son, Steven Smith and his wife Kimber, and two precious grandchildren who called her “Mamie”, Emily and Lee Smith. Along with her parents, Dorothea was also preceded in death by her son, David Lee Smith, with whom she is now with in heaven.
A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Oval Cemetery, 6743 PA-44, Jersey Shore.
