Donald Rosser Obituary

Donald L. “Don” Rosser, 81, of Linden, peacefully entered the arms of his loving Savior Jesus on Friday, August 1, 2025, at UPMC of Williamsport. Before entering heaven, he left this earth surrounded by his loving family.

Born on September 23, 1943, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Carl Cecil and Wanda Lorraine (Ostrander) Rosser. Don graduated from Williamsport Area High School and went on to become a respected business owner in the community. In 1974, he incorporated his family’s business, Avis Building Supplies, formerly Rosser Door Company, and led the business until his retirement in 1999. His reputation as an honest businessman with loyal customers and friends was a reflection of his integrity and dedication. Beyond his professional achievements, Don's heart was always open to those in need. He and Mary Jane fostered 34 children over the years, providing a loving home and a sense of family to those who needed it most. His commitment to his faith was unwavering, as a member of River Valley Church and The Gideons International. As a reflection of his faith-filled life, he was also a strong supporter of Israel. Don's passion for sharing the message of Jesus was evident in every conversation, whether with a close friend or a stranger.

Don's interests and hobbies were as varied as they were heartfelt. He was known for his delicious chocolate chip cookies at Bible Study, his joy in deep-sea fishing, and his love for picking wildflowers for his wife. A selfless man, he would often surprise friends by standing at the end of the line during Sunday dinners out, only to buy everyone's meal. His hardworking nature was evident to all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Jane (Krebs) Rosser. On their 60th wedding anniversary they shared a beautiful trip to Hawaii, celebrating many wonderful years with family. Don leaves behind to cherish his memory, four daughters, Jamie Tacka, Helen Holcomb (Stephen), Michele Schultz (John), and Racquel Whipple (Wayne). His legacy will continue through his 14 grandchildren: Dana (Jeremy), Randi (Jamar), Robbie, Jessica (Josh), Stephen (Katie), Austin (Jodi), Luke (Maria), Christopher (Amanda), Kevin (Phylicia), Ian (Mackenzie), Joanna (Scott), Michele, Olivia (Jonathan), and Noah, as well as 19 great-grandchildren who brought him immense pride and happiness. And special family and friends, Kevin Washington, Christine and Scott Persun, as well as many other loved ones who will miss him dearly. Along with his parents, Don was also preceded in death by his brother, William "Bill" Rosser and a great-grandson Jamar Pelham, Jr.

Donald L. Rosser's life was a beacon of selflessness, faith, and generosity. The values he held dear were family, hard work, and service to others. He will be remembered for his commitment to family, community and faith, and his memory will be cherished forever.
