Donald G. "Pudge" Oeler, 85, of Nisbet, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at UPMC Williamsport. Surviving is his loving wife, Diane C. (Mutchler) Oeler.
Born March 22, 1939, in Duquesne, he was a son of the late John J. and Nellie J. (Carothers) Oeler.
After graduating from high school, Pudge honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy. His commitment to service did not stop there, as he went on to have a distinguished career with the Williamsport Bureau of Police, where he worked from 1969 until his retirement in 1983. His dedication to public service was a testament to his character and his desire to make a positive impact on his community.
Pudge was the life of any gathering and was known for his friendly demeanor and loving nature. He was a member of the local Polish club. Pudge's passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for hunting and fishing, particularly the times spent in Kentucky.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Tony Oeler (Shannon) of Montoursville, Angel Ramin of Montoursville, Alicia Gundrum of Williamsport, and Mary Beth Harman of Loyalsock; two step-children Jeremy Steppe (Kate) and Joel Steppe (Krystle), both of Jersey Shore; nine grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas L. Oeler (Evelyn) of Williamsport and Richard D. Oeler (Rebecca) of Montoursville; and his sister, Cheryl A. Reeder (Romey Fagnano) of Loyalsock.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Cynthia (Krauser) Oeler; three brothers Robert W., Jay J., and Jon L. Oeler; a grandson, Cody Harman; and a great-great-grandson Owen Hine.
A celebration of Pudge’s life will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
