Dale E. Wertz, 79, of South Williamsport, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025, unexpectedly at his home. He was the loving husband to the late Barbara A. (Stroup) Wertz.
Born on November 17, 1945, in Montgomery, he was a son of the late James L. and Alberta V. (Clark) Wertz. After graduation, Dale proudly served his nation in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant. Once he was honorably discharged from his military duties, he held numerous employment positions before retiring from Brodart in 2013 as a forklift operator in the shipping department. Dale's love for spaghetti was well-known, and he enjoyed many meals at his favorite restaurants, including Olive Garden and Fry's Turkey Ranch. He was also known as an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping and fishing. Above all, Dale was a family man. His happiest moments were spent surrounded by his loved ones, especially those who called him Pop Pop and Old Pop.
Surviving are his two children, Lori Wertz Welty (Barry) and Matt Wertz; four grandchildren, Ashley Wertz, Stephen Welty (Ashley), Britney Wertz Miller (Mike), and Brandan Welty; eight great-grandchildren, Alyson, Eli, Evelyn, Cheyenne, Danika, Leonora, Roslyn, and Silas; three brothers, Richard Wertz (Gloria), Sam Wertz (Ruth), and Timothy Wertz (Cathy).
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two sisters Margaret Snyder and Laura Wertz, and a brother, Jimmy Wertz.
A funeral service to honor Dale’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 20th at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave. Williamsport. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
