Charles L. "Chuck" Robbins, 80, of Williamsport, passed away on Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, at Williamsport North Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Born Sept. 28, 1943, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Max L. and Mavis M. (Sterno) Robbins.
Charles retired from Stone Container in 1994 after 34 years as a machine operator. He was a member of Heshbon Park United Methodist Church. Chuck's involvement with the Old Lycoming Township Fire Company as a life member was a testament to his selflessness. Long before the days of EMTs and paramedics, he served as a first aider, always ready to lend a helping hand in times of need. His dedication to the fire hall was unwavering, and he remained an active and contributing member for 60 years. Chuck's sense of responsibility extended to his personal life as well; he was a devoted son who took care of his mother with great love and care.
Chuck's interests reflected his commitment to the safety and well-being of others. He was an avid reader of fire magazines. His love for action was also seen in his choice of entertainment, as he enjoyed watching cop shows and movies. Additionally, Chuck found joy in listening to the scanner, keeping an ear out for the happenings in his community, always ready to respond if needed.
Surviving are his two nephews, Jeffery T. Robbins (Cynthia) and Craig K. Robbins (Jill).
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth M. Robbins.
A funeral service to honor the life of Chuck will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport with the Rev. Jane O’Borski officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.
