Charles A. “Charlie” Haynes, 79, of Williamsport, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at the Gatehouse of Divine Providence.

He was the beloved husband of the late Rebecca J. (Hennigan) Haynes, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage at the time of her passing in 2022.

Born on March 30, 1946 in New York City, Charlie was the son of the late Andrew F. and Theola K. (Kilburn) Haynes.

Charlie was a 1964 graduate of Fillmore High School. He extended his education through Williamsport Area Community College, the Community College of the Air Force, and finally Parkland University in Illinois where he received his Bachelor’s degree.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 22 years, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant before his honorable discharge from active duty in 1986. Charlie transitioned to a position within the Department of Defense, supporting the U.S. Air Force with his experience and expertise for another 20 years before his retirement in 2008.

Charlie was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Fillmore, NY and a 3rd Degree Mason. He was also an active participant in numerous clubs across Williamsport including the Grotto, Polish Club, both Democratic and Republican Clubs, the VFW and the Moose.

Charlie loved to travel and play cards, particularly Set-Back. He was captivated with model trains and enjoyed collecting, building, and creating platforms.

Charlie leaves behind a legacy of love and memories with his dear children, Andrew J. Haynes (Sylvia) and Tammy R. Thomas (Don); sister, Mary G. McIntyre; and the delight of his later years, his five grandchildren: William (Tyler), Andrew (Frankie), Jessica (Adam), Mark and Anthony.
