Bruce W. Maggs, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, in his hometown of Williamsport, where he was also born on December 26, 1943.
Bruce graduated from South Williamsport High School in 1961, and his work ethic was evident throughout his dedicated career with Alcan Cable and CA Reed.
At home, Bruce was the loving husband to Phyllis A. (Bankert) Maggs for 52 wonderful years. He also leaves behind his son Ronald Fry (Shari), daughter Vickie Engel (John), eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a sister, Elaine Sanso, and his puppy Izzy, all with whom brought immense joy to his life. Bruce was a family man through and through, and nothing made him happier than spending time with his loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Nora (Sechrist) Maggs, his son Joseph Maggs, and his siblings Jacob, Fred, Jack, Beverly Watkins, Jean Emmerson, and June May.
Bruce was an active member of the New Covenant United Church of Christ, where he found strength and community. Bruce's selflessness was evident to all who knew him and he was a man who was always willing to lend a helping hand and share his knowledge with others.
Having many interests, Bruce had a passion for working on cars, a hobby that allowed him to tinker and problem-solve. He was also an avid gun collector, which led to hunting with his grandson as one of his favorite pastimes.
Funeral services to honor Bruce’s life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at New Covenant United Church of Christ, 202 E. Third St., Williamsport. A viewing will be held 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow services at Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
