William A. Reed

     William A. Reed, 92, formerly of Blair Street, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at his home at Leighton Place, with his family by his side.

     Bill graduated in 1943 from Altoona High School, served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the Philippines and retired from Bell Atlantic after 32 years as the Business Office Manager.  He was a past trustee and member of Covenant Central Presbyterian Church and a current member of Faith United Methodist Church.  He was a past member of the Loyalsock Township School Board, past President of the Y.M.C.A. board and a former member of the Loyalsock Kiwanis.  He coached Little League baseball, John Bower basketball, was an avid golfer still playing at age 90 and an avid Penn State fan.

     Born, June 10, 1925, in Altoona, he was the son of Joseph and Beatrice Saylor Reed.

     Surviving are a son, William A. (Nancy) of Montoursville; daughter, Jennifer R. (Michael) Marino of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Andrew (Stacy) Reed, Megan (Jeremy) Boyles, Gregory Reed and Heidi Marino; and four great grandchildren.

    Bill was predeceased by his wife, the former, Sara Montgomery, in 1998.

    Memorial service to honor the life of Bill will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith United Methodist Church, 700 Fairview Drive, Montoursville, with Pastor Rusty Wolfinger officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 Wednesday.  Interment will be in Montoursville Cemetery.
