William Campbell Obituary

William F. “Bill” Campbell, 83, of Cogan Station, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. Surviving is his loving wife of 62 years, Joyce E. (Confer) Campbell.

Born March 28, 1936 in Montoursville, he was a son of the late Earl L. and Genivieve (Flick) Campbell.

Bill was a 1955 graduate of Montoursville High School where he excelled at football, basketball, and baseball. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He went on to work at Lonza Inc. for 38 years until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of St. John’s-Newberry United Methodist Church. Bill loved golfing, was a member of Belles Springs Golf Course and enjoyed watching Raiders football. Most of all his love was for his family and spending time with them and attending the activities and sports of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Vicki L. Schnider (Lou) of Cocoa, FL Tammie J. Wool(Jim) of Cogan Station, and Susan A. Mahaffey (Darrin)  of Linden, six grandchildren, Ashley Scott (Danny), James Wool (Kelly), Kristen Brule (Mike), Amanda Phillippi (John), Rantz Mahaffey (Sadie), Jared Mahaffey (Elizabeth), seven great-grandchildren, Brooke and Corbin Scott, Kellynn and Kaisley Wool, Norah Brule, Madison Phillippi, and Jackson Mahaffey, and one sister, Ann L. Berk of Merritt Island, FL.

Bill was preceded in death by a son, Barry W. Campbell, granddaughter, Jennifer Bair, a brother Earl L. Campbell, Jr. and a sister, Barbara J. Weise.

A memorial service to honor the life of Bill will be held 5 p.m., Friday, August 16 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave, Williamsport. A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of service at Knight-Confer.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
