Timothy R. 'Hammer' Mase, 71, of Liberty, died Saturday, November 24, 2018, with his sons by his side in Nauvoo.
Born August 9, 1947, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Donald J. and Jean (Miller) Mase.
Tim was a graduate of Liberty High School's class of 1965. He began work for B&D Transfer in his senior year working nights and retired in 2015, after 50 years with the company.
From 1967 to 1968, Tim served in the United States Army achieving the rank of Sergeant. After a tour of duty in the Vietnam Conflict, Tim was fortunate to return home and live an incredible life where he touched the lives many.
Tim was an active member of the Liberty VFW Post #6755, and served in many leadership positions since 1969. He was an avid hunter and made more than 30 trips to Alaska on hunting and fishing adventures while visiting family, especially his granddaughter, Harley. Hammer enjoyed collecting antique cars and participated in numerous benefit car cruises as well as sponsoring a PA Wounded Warrior car cruise each year.
Surviving are his two sons, Ty A. Mase (Heather), of King Salmon, Alaska, and John M. Mase, of Morris; two grandchildren, Harley and Jordan; and a sister, Joy Bastion (Sheldon), of Williamsport.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Terry and Tom Mase.
A celebration of Hammer's life will be held in June 2019, with a future date to be announced.
