Robert Conklin Obituary

Robert L. “Bob” Conklin, 81, a lifelong resident of Williamsport, passed away Friday, January 3, 2020 at Windsor House at Snyder Memorial Health Care Center, Marienville. He was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Leasa (Harman) Conklin.

Born May 23, 1938 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Floyd L. and Dorothy A. (Schuman) Conklin.

Bob grew up playing baseball at Maynard Little League and was a 1957 graduate of Williamsport High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army  from June 24, 1957 – May 31, 1963 with a tour in Italy. He retired from Anchor-Darling Valve (Flowserve). Bob had a love for fishing and hunting and would often share his military stories. He enjoyed watching football and was a Green Bay Packers fan. He spent his days as a retiree walking along the Susquehanna River to see how the fishermen were doing and would give them helpful tips. Bob enjoyed his summer rides on his candy apple red motorcycle.

He is survived by his daughter Teresa Strittmatter, of Mechanicsburg; two granddaughters, Sarah and Rachael Strittmatter; a son Gregory Conklin (Marie), of Iowa; a brother, David W. Conklin of Montoursville, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Conklin, and a sister-in-law, Judith T. Conklin.
