Raymond A. (Ray) Thompson, 83, of Williamsport, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, at his beloved cabin at Pine Creek where he spent many of his days fly fishing and hosting family and friends.
Born Jan. 24, 1935, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Raymond A. and Mary Litchard Thompson.
Ray was a 1952 graduate of Williamsport High School. After serving in the US Air Force, he graduated from Lycoming College and then received his master's degree in education from Bucknell University.
He was a teacher at Four Mile Elementary School, and was principal at the former Becht Elementary School.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Virginia L. (Bower) Thompson; three children, Steve (Moya) Thompson, of Palm Coast, Fla., Cheryl (Tom) Thomsen, of Brookfield, Wis., and Caryn (Tony) Driebelbies, of Frederick, Md.; and five grandchildren, Dan, Christina and Matthew Thomsen and Megan and Erin Driebelbies.
A memorial service to honor the life of Raymond will be held at a later date.
