Mona F. Brooks, 80, of Lock Haven, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport surrounded by her family. Surviving is her loving husband of 58 years, Dennis E. Brooks.
Born March 23, 1938, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Howard Ray and Marie Viola (Morrow) Benn.
Mona was a 1956 graduate of Williamsport High School, and worked as a directory operator for L.L. Stearns and AT&T, where she later retired in 2001. She was a member of the Clio Garden Club and AT&T Pioneers Club. Mona was a dedicated volunteer at the Community Arts Center for over 20 years. She also taught Sunday School at the Faith Christian Church, in Williamsport, where she was a member. She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging (for which she won many awards) arts and crafts, cooking, shopping, traveling, golf and taking care of her family.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a brother, Donald R. Benn, of Linden; a son, Jeffrey E. Brooks (LuAnn), of Cogan Station; two daughters, Laurie B. Painter (Kurt), of Elverson, and Lisa B. Ott (Doug), of Parma Heights, Ohio; six grandchildren, Melissa Boehret (Seth), Jeffrey Brooks Jr. (Margarette), Derek Painter (Megan), Alyson Giacalone (Joe), Kailyn Painter and Rebecca Painter; five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Adrian, Cameron, Everett and Daniel; and one on the way.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one grandson, Benjamin Painter.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mona will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 23, at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. A viewing will be held Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m., and Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.
