Mary E. Klees, 93, of the Williamsport Home Apartments and formerly of Lewisburg, died Monday, December 23, 2019 at the Williamsport Home surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Dr. Harry W. Klees on August 9, 2012.
Born January 29, 1926, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Donald M. and Josephine M. (Orehli) Calkins.
Mary began her working career at AVCO, before raising her three children, and more recently was an assistant for the Milton Public Library for 20 years. She enjoyed flowers, playing cards and bingo, watching birds, camping with her husband, and was an avid reader.
Surviving are; two daughters, Sandra E. Klees-Hanzel of Holland PA, and Jamie A. Klees-Hoffa (Robert) of Cogan Station; five grandchildren, Stanley Hanzel (Ingrida), Tisha Gara (Jody), Ashley Hanzel, Brett Klees (Stacy), and Taylor Hoffa; and five great-grandchildren, Jody Gara Jr. (Brittany), Madelyn, Makayla and Nolan Klees, and Aiden Christopher Hanzel.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by a son, Donald T. Klees.
In keeping with Mary’s wishes, there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s name to the Williamsport Home, c/o Apartment B Travel Committee, 1900 Ravine Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.
