Martha H. (Ely) Winner

Martha H. (Ely) Winner, 100, of Williamsport and formally Robins Road, Montoursville, passed away at 7:25 a.m. on August 8, 2017. For the past 16 years she resided at the Williamsport Home.
Born April 29, 1917, in Calvert, she was the daughter of John W. and Mary J. Ely and the fourth of five children. 
She graduated from Ralston High School in 1935 and was married to Ozro V. Winner on February 18, 1939 at Beech Valley Methodist Church. 
She was predeceased by her husband, Ozro in March 3, 1995; and brothers, Karl J. Ely, Oct. 19, 1995, Scott E. Ely, Dec. 10, 2010 and Annie C. Dewald, Dec. 28, 2014.
Martha is survived by a sister, Janet C. Roan (96), of Trout Run. She is also survived by four sons, John A. Winner (Sandra), of Carlisle, Stanley R. (Jayne) Winner, of Clermont, Fla., Thomas F. Winner (Alice), of Hummelstown, and David P. Winner (Judi), of Westminster, Md.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a loyal member of Market Street Methodist Church and it’s successors, Wesley U.M and Hope U.M., and lastly First U.M. Church, all of Williamsport.
She was a devoted Boy Scout mother that volunteered for many duties including being a Den Mother. She always encouraged her sons and was very proud when they all had attained the rank of Eagle Scout.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be missed.
The funeral will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport, with Pastor D.G. Giordano, officiating. A viewing and gathering will be held from noon until the time of service.
Interment will be at Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
