Marcelyn S. "Marcy" (Ames) Burk

     Marcelyn S. "Marcy" Burk, 83, of Williamsport, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the Williamsport Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Llewellyn E. Burk on October 27, 1996.

     Born July 13, 1933, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Carlton F. and Florence E. (Shuman) Ames.

     Marcelyn was a 1952 graduate of Williamsport High School. She was employed at the former L.L. Stearns & Sons department store and later worked for Weis Market’s on Lycoming Creek Road as a Hostess. Throughout the years, she babysat for many local families.

     She was a member of St. John’s-Newberry United Methodist Church since 1943. She was also a member of the Williamsport Hospital Auxiliary where she was as an avid crocheter of baby blankets and throws. Marcelyn enjoyed sewing and frequently donated blood for the Red Cross.

      Surviving are a son, Keith A. Burk (Anna), of Williamsport; a daughter, Susan A. Drake (Michael), of Arizona; seven grandchildren, Keith A. Burk II (Latisha Fraiser), of South Carolina, Alicia S. Burk, of Williamsport, Kelli A. Markley (Jeff), of Jersey Shore, Jason M. Whitton (Traci), of Washington,  Richard H. Soikkeli (Karen), of California, and John M. Drake (Jolene), of Texas, Keith J. Drake, of Colorado; 11 great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Karma, Jinxalyn, Alexis, Alazay, Ashlyn, Reagan, Riley, Logan, Calvin, and Benjamin (Stephanie); one niece; one nephew; and two great-nieces.

     In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Carlene M. Martin; and a great-granddaughter, Melody.

      A funeral service to honor the life of Marcelyn will be held  11 a.m. Thursday, June 1, at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport, with the Rev. Jay E. Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.

      In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Marcelyn’s name to St. John's-Newberry United Methodist Church, 2101 Newberry St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
