Lillian M. (Mansel) Gehret

Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother Lillian M. Gehret, 98, of Williamsport, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, at Leighton Place. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph B. Gehret Sr. on March 15, 2009. They had been married for more than 65 years.

Born July 11, 1919, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late William I. and Kathryn (Ertel) Mansel. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by a sister, Fae M. Thomas; and an infant daughter.

Surviving are four sons and their wives, Michael (Lor), of Newtown, Pa.; Jon (Jeanne), of Fairport, N.Y., Thomas (Sarah), of Williamsport, and Joseph Jr. (Chris), of North Reading, Mass. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Kate Rose (Matt), Dan Gehret, Monica Bowen (Josh), Joe Gehret (Johanna), Beth Ward (Troy), Jim Gehret, Andrew Gehret, and Meriam Silva (James). She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Cameron and Jameson Bowen, Joseph Gehret, and Campbell Rose.

Lillian was a graduate of South Williamsport High School and of the former Williamsport Commercial College and was employed at Lundy Lumber Company as a secretary for 6 years prior to her marriage and the birth of her sons. Later she became the office manager for the company founded by her husband, Norcen Industries Inc., which is located in Jersey Shore.

She was a member of St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church.

There will be a private burial service for the family on Friday morning, October 20. A memorial Mass will follow at St. Boniface, 326 Washington Blvd., on Friday at 10 a.m. and family and friends are welcome to attend. There will be a reception after the service at St. Lawrence Church, 800 W. Central Ave., South Williamsport.

The family will provide flowers and respectfully suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Monsignor Eugene Clark Fund at St. Boniface Church, 326 Washington Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701; or to the Joseph and Lillian Gehret Library Support Fund at Penn College, One College Ave., Williamsport, PA 17701.
