Joseph G. "Joe" Chance, 66, of Dewart, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport. Surviving are his loving wife, Brenda J. (McElroy) Chance, and their dog, Abby.
Born June 6, 1952, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late George J. Schweppenheiser Chance and Madeline J. (Whitnack) Fegley (James), of Williamsport.
Joe was a 1970 graduate of Warrior Run High School and received a certificate in computer science from a computer institute in California. Joe retired from Brodart as a computer programmer after more than 30 years.
Joe was very athletic in his younger years. He was a two-time all-star baseball player for Watsontown Little League. He won the area "Punt, Pass, and Kick" competition when he was 12 years old. At Warrior Run High School, he was a standout basketball and football player. Post high school, he served as his brotherás Little League baseball coach for six years at the Original League in Williamsport. More recently, Joe and Brenda watched sports together. He was a huge fan of the Phillies, Eagles, Penn State and the Calgary Stampeders. He loved his fantasy baseball league and all the good friends that were involved in that. Everyone that knew him knows that his knowledge of sports trivia was boundless.
Joe also loved music, especially The Beatles. Music was one of the things that brought Joe and Brenda together. He was a wonderful caring husband, companion and friend to Brenda. He was also a very talented guitar player and avid harmonica player. His daughters, Jessica and Andrea meant the world to him and he was so proud to be their father.
