John E. Kimport, 85, of Jersey Shore, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Surviving is his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Joyce M. (Jarrett) Kimport. They were married on Jan. 1, 1982.
Born Oct. 17, 1933, in Bellefonte, he was a son of the late John A. and Margaret A. (Williams) Kimport.
John was a 1951 graduate of Jersey Shore High School and later retired in 1996 from Lonza after 42 years.
John was a member of Trinity Gospel Church. John was a risk taker and at the age of 44 he took up the hobby of hang gliding, but his true passion was flying his ultra-light trike and soaring over the family farm.
Surviving in addition to his wife are nine children, Margaret Waldman (Dave), of Home, Mindy Bower (Duane), of Camp Hill, John Thomas Kimport (Sheryl), of Camp Hill, Larry Kimport (Mary), of Lumberton, N.J., Joanne Fitzpatrick (Bill), of DuBois, Jill Kimport, of Montoursville, Paul Kimport (Dolly), of Philadelphia, Andrew Phillips (Terri), of Snow Camp, N.C., and Paula Grunsby (Rick), of Jersey Shore; 22 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Alice Hauser (Fred), of Linden, and Peggy Kurtz (Gordon), of Jersey Shore.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Hazel (Dunkelberger) Kimport.
A funeral service to honor the life of John will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 22, at Trinity Gospel Church, 1010 Elmira St., Williamsport, with The Rev. Joel E. Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at Trinity Gospel Church.
