Joan F. Solomon, 83, of Williamsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Theodore N. Solomon on September 30, 2015.
Born July 8, 1935, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Francis M. and Amelia C. (Horoschak) McHale.
Joan was a 1935 graduate of St. Joseph High School and the Williamsport School of Nursing in 1956 where she was a member of the Nurses Alumni. She retired in 1991 as a registered nurse for many years at Divine Providence Hospital. She was also formerly employed at CA Reed, was an industrial nurse, and a member of the Visiting Nurse Association of Lycoming County.
Joan was a lifelong member of the former Annunciation Catholic Church now St. Joseph the Worker Parish, and the Susquehanna Health Retiree’s. Joan enjoyed quilting and painting, but most of all she loved her family and was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
Surviving are her children, Mark R. Solomon (Sherry), of Bloomsburg, Jeffrey A. Solomon (Lynne), of Loudon, TN, Kathleen A. Kreisher (Dalbys), of Linden, and Kevin M. Solomon (Patricia), of Millville, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a niece, and several nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard T. McHale and sisters, Catherine A. Allison and Annabelle M. Brobst.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 8 at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 W. Fourth Street, Williamsport with the Rev. Brian F. VanFossen officiating. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 to 9:45 a.m. in the portico at St. Joseph the Worker Parish.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Joan’s name to Janet C. Weis Children’s Hospital 100 North Academy Avenue Danville, PA 17822.
