Janet L. (Kline) Green

     Janet L. Green, 83, of South Williamsport, passed away Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry B. Green Jr.

     Born Nov. 30, 1934, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Arthur B. and Madeline (Dapp) Kline Sr. 

     Janet was a 1952 graduate of Williamsport High School. She was instrumental in moving the Mummer’s day parade from Tuesday to Saturday and was very active with the Mummer’s for 34 years. While her children were growing up she volunteered with the PTA, baseball and football teams and cheerleading squad. She always attended her children and granddaughters sporting events, band concerts, chorus concerts and dance recitals. Janet loved and cherished being a wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed books, was an excellent cook and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.

     Surviving are a son, David H. Green, of Williamsport; a daughter, Sharon M. Shutt (Eugene), of Montoursville; four granddaughters, Emily and Marcella Green, Richele Little (Dan), and Melanie Shutt (Alex Myers); a brother, Kenneth Kline, of Mechanicsburg and a sister-in-law, L. Jane Kline, of Fort Smith, Arkansas. 

     In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur B. Kline Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn A. Green; and a sister-in-law, Judy Kline.

     A funeral service to honor the life of Janet will be held 3 p.m. Monday, December 18 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport, with the Rev. Ronald D. Savits officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until time of service at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.

     Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
