Ida Jane (Kennedy) Carn

Ida J. “Jane” Carn, 89, 631 Ames Place, Williamsport, passed away July 29, 2017 at Manor Care where she had been a resident since May.

Jane was born April 21, 1928, at Troy, PA, a daughter of the late George F. and Zada E. (Storrs) Kennedy. She is survived by sons James G. (Brenda), Williamsport, and Scott B. Carn, Muncy; her granddaughter, Jaime L. (Markus) Rybak and great grandchildren Emma O., Lukas D., and Gavin B. Rybak, South Williamsport. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Carn, Jr., who died March 13, 1988 and by brothers, Frederick D., Harold E., George E. “Ed”, and Charles E. “Earl” Kennedy; by sisters, Helen O. Hewitt, and Lois M. Mitstifer. She is survived by sisters Erma D. Turner, Naples, FL, Mary L. (Robert) Bachman, Pine City, NY and a brother Marshall L. “Bud” Kennedy of Horseheads, NY.

Jane was a member of the First Baptist Church of Troy, was a 1946 graduate of Troy High School and retired as a certified nurse's aid from the Williamsport Home.

Jane enjoyed high school class reunions and annual Kennedy family reunions especially those that were held at her family's ancestral home, established in 1823, north of Troy. She loved reading, cooking, baking, working crossword puzzles, all kinds of music, especially country music, and keeping up with her great grandchildren's activities. She enjoyed traveling in her retirement years and became an avid walker.   

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m.Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Avenue, Williamsport, with Pastor Jay E. Jones, St. John's-Newberry United Methodist Church, officiating. Family and friends will be received prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
