Gilbert E. "Pete" Sholder, 81, of McElhattan, died Monday, June 24, 2019, at the Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Nancy J. (McClintock) Sholder on October 13, 2016.
Born December 19, 1937, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Floyd and Helen (Shaffer) Sholder.
Pete retired in 2000 from Jersey Shore Steel after many years as a laborer. He was born a farmer and continued farming while working full time at Jersey Shore Steel and even after retirement. Pete enjoyed being outdoors and also enjoyed hunting and gardening. Most of all Pete loved and cherished spending time with his family.
Surviving are his three daughters, Linda L. Palmatier, of Jersey Shore, Elizabeth I. Fritz (Samuel), of McElhattan, and Dawn M. Brague (Randy), of Montoursville; six grandchildren, Shawn Clark (Heather), Shannon Lape (Shawn), Bobbie Packer (Damien), Melissa Palmatier, Cody Brague (Samantha), and Cory Brague; eight great-grandchildren, Drayton, Devin, Dakota, Gage, Riley, Makayla, Chloe, and Cameron; and two sisters, Jerri Haas, of Williamsport, and Roberta Jameson (Albert), of Trout Run.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Alton Sholder and a sister, Connie Bower.
In keeping with his wishes burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Pete's name to Susquehanna Health Foundation c/o the Gatehouse, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
